In the fourth episode of From City Lights to Country Sights, E-volution Media visits the village of Kapinovo to meet Martin Vasev — a person whose story opens another perspective on life outside the city, local identity, and the quiet strength of small communities.
This episode continues our journey through villages, personal stories, and alternative ways of living. Through Martin’s experience, we explore how rural places can become much more than a background or a memory. They can be spaces of connection, creativity, work, freedom, and belonging. The conversation looks at the relationship between people and place — how a village shapes everyday life, how local communities preserve their character, and how young people can rediscover meaning beyond the speed and pressure of urban environments.
From City Lights to Country Sights is not only a series about moving from the city to the countryside. It is a series about different rhythms of life, about choosing where and how to belong, and about the people who keep local places alive through their presence, ideas, and personal choices.
The episode with Martin Vasev brings attention to Kapinovo as a living community — a place connected to nature, local memory, and human stories. It invites viewers to look at rural Bulgaria not as something distant or forgotten, but as a space full of voices, experiences, and possibilities.
The video was created by the volunteers of E-volution Media as part of their media and storytelling work. Through interviews, filming, editing, and fieldwork, the volunteers continue to explore how audiovisual media can document real people and local communities in a more personal, honest, and engaging way.
The project is funded by the European Solidarity Corps of the European Union.
