Historic streets come alive with wine and culture

Veliko Tarnovo welcomed wine lovers on October 17–18, 2025 for the Urban Wine Fest, organized by the Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals (BAWP). The festival was held at the start of Samovodska Charshiya Street, near the Stratilat pastry shop, a charming spot full of history and local culture.

Tasting Bulgarian Wines

 Discover the flavors of BulgariaVisitors had the chance to taste reds, whites, and special blends from producers across Bulgaria. Many stopped to talk with the winemakers and learn about how the wines are made, the traditions behind them, and the importance of wine in Bulgarian culture and celebrations.

Workshops and Learning

 Learn how to taste wine like a pro
Experts ran workshops and tasting sessions throughout the weekend. Attendees learned tips on tasting wine, pairing it with food, and exploring new flavors, making the festival both fun and educational. These activities also highlighted the long history of wine-making in Bulgaria, which is an important part of the country’s heritage.

Music and Fun

Live music adds energy to the festival

Live music by The Sunshine Duo, The Hitch-Hikers, and Gabo created a lively atmosphere. Together with wine tasting and the historic surroundings, the music gave visitors a sense of Bulgarian hospitality and cultural richness.

A Big Success

 Locals and tourists join the celebration.
The festival attracted a large crowd, even bigger than last year. Visitors enjoyed the variety of wines, workshops, and live performances, as well as the chance to experience a bit of Bulgarian culture and tradition.
