Kotel is a town in central Bulgaria, part of Sliven province with 6.232 habitants (2009).
Kotel was settled during the beginning of the Ottomam occupation of Bulgaria, when people fled from near cities and towns.
Kotel is known for the numerous personalities of the Bulgarian National Revival that are somehow connectd to the town, such as politicians Alexander Bogodiri and Stefan Bogodiri, public figure Gravil Krastevich, revolutionary Georgi Rakovski, as well as World War II prime minister Dobri Bozhilov.
It has a well-known music school ( FILIP KUTEV MUSIC SCHOOL) where youngsters can frequent secundary schol and study dance and music.
Kotel has been a center for carpet making and there is a museum devoted to the craft.
There is a strong sheep farming tradiotions in the region, wich incluides the pratice of transhumance, migration the sheep from lowland winter pastures to mountain summer pastures.

With the during of the years the gypsies occupetd the part of the town and make looks like a poor town. But in my point of view it`s very interesting because we can do some projects to help population and try to change the spirit life.
